The professional
Nandan Nilekani was listed among Time magazine's 100 most influential people globally in 2005, the man behind transforming India's image around the world. 'Seattle has Bill, Bangalore has Nandan' began his profile in Time magazine penned by celebrity columnist Thomas Friedman. Nilekani, an engineering graduate from IIT-Bombay, was initially associated with Infosys, then heading the software group at Patni Computer Systems. For Infosys, Narayana Murthy is the conscience and Nilekani the one who epitomizes its professional excellence and execution zeal. Not only has Nilekani proved to be the ideal ambassador to carry forward Murthy's legacy in Infosys, but he also symbolizes the second generation who has been handed over the baton to carry Indian IT through its next 50 years.
