Long Live the Tape
Network storage vendors might have been predicting the demise of tapes for years, but the following graphs and statistics belie their pessimism, at least in the Asia Pacific in the near future.

4 mm drives and LTOs seem to be the popular choice and are likely to remain so in the near future; however, over time, there is a possibility that networked storage media could score over tape drives even in the secondary storage domain.

Though Australia and China would continue to contribute the largest to the tape drive market in the near future, India is likely to do a fast catch up; in fact, in terms of unit shipment, India has already moved ahead of China and would remain #2 to only Australia in the A-Pac region.
