For one of the pioneers of offshoring to India, it was a smooth ride through
the year. The right sales teams and leadership, the advantage of having acquired
GE's systems and processes, strong domain knowledge, and the cultural mindset
provided an edge over global competitors.
- Won a $60 mn contract from Linde Group, Germany
- Bagged 7-year contract from Wachovia to support its business process
outsourcing efforts from India
Born Gecis, the company decided to step out of GE's shadow and re-christen
itself as Genpact. FY '06 saw it
add 20 new clients, and the company managed to reduce its dependence on GE
business from 95% in FY '05 to 75%.
Genpact expects to touch $1 billion in annual revenue by 2007-08 and have
a global workforce of 30,000. Among major initiatives: Genpact tied up with NDTV
for a foray into media outsourcing. It went on a hiring binge and also did well
in bringing down attrition levels from 33% to less than 30%; less than 5% at the
senior management levels.
