BPO Rankings: 11 | EXL Services: Sitting in the Wings
With Nasdaq listing in view, the company started to de-risk business
Monday, August 28, 2006

EXL Services entered FY '06 with a bang-annulling a help desk call center contract with Dell which was bleeding it. It, however, retained Dell's financial services business. The decision was also aimed at reducing dependence on voice business and at restructuring its client portfolio.

While the company forayed into the Utilities space bagging a large contract from Centrica for managing back office operations for British Gas, 50% of its growth came from ramp up of existing customers. Nevertheless, financial services continued to be its mainstay with four out of its top five clients coming from the BFSI space. The only major engagement outside the segment was with Dell.

  • Inducted Edward V Dardani (Principal of Oak Hill Capital Partners), David B Kelso, Dr Mohanbir Sawhney and Garen K Staglin as directors in the board
  • Cut down size of its proposed IPO on the Nasdaq by 20%; expects to raise up to $60 mn

Overall, EXL has close to 50 clients, with 70% revenues coming from BPO operation, 20% from research and analytics services and remaining 10% from advisory services.
