For this 50:50 JV between UK's Barclays Bank and HDFC, FY '06 was
eventful-strategic alliances and acquisitions were the order of the day as
Intelenet Global focused on scaling up operations. Intelenet entered into a
strategic alliance with Transcom Worldwide, a European CRM specialist present in
42 locations. This opened up particularly the Eastern Europe market with
delivery capability in 35 languages without having to invest on capital
infrastructure; as quid pro quid Transcom would not directly venture into India.
By acquiring 51% of Sparsh, the domestic BPO business of Spanco Telesystems,
Intelenet made its domestic debut with 39 clients including HLL, Prudential and
AIG among others. Next six months could see Intelenet making acquisitions in the
UK, the US and South Africa.
