eBill Post: Citizens’ Convenience in Mind

eBill Post is a Web-enabled service to collect and consolidate bill amounts electronically. It will make the payment activity convenient by offering the service under one roof. The service provider is relieved of the attendant difficulties in establishing a separate network to collect bill dues. Depending upon the customer distribution of a client (service provider) and customer preference, the DoP will identify cities, towns and offices whereby the facility can be availed. The EBPP has been developed by NIIT. The interface for this project has been provided using Meghdoot in association with PTC of Mysore. The Data center facility has been provided by NIC to launch this scheme. eBill Post also offers a citizen the facility of paying from home or office through on-line registration. With this facility, he can get the bills at his email box directly to his Computer so that he can schedule his payment and make on-line payment sitting at home or office.

The biller data interface is available for value addition. The service provider category includes almost the whole gamut of industry- manufacturing, service, education, finance, telecommunication, electricity, water supply, land revenue, property tax, income tax, Octroi, Police Fine etc. The frequency of payment could be fortnightly to annual. At a later stage, the service will also enable all subscribers to get their bills remitted automatically as and when the post office receives them. The subscribers’ account will be debited, without the fear of late payments.
