Gurgaon-based Hughes Software Systems is a leading player in the software segment with a focus on telecom solutions. The company came out with its IPO in fiscal 1999, meeting with astounding success. Providing customized software services in the area of switching technologies, access technologies, network management systems, intelligent networks and computer telephony integration, the company showed a sales growth of 57% in fiscal 1999-00, notching up revenues of Rs 107.29 crore. Net profit jumped 96% to Rs 29.51 crore, and the company was ranked #25 in sales, #19 in net profit and #16 in gross block. ROCE stood at 29%, giving it the #14 slot in the segment. The overall ranking would be far higher than the designated #27 if the detailed financials were available.
