Employee satisfaction on compensation and appraisals
Employee dissatisfaction with immediate managers and a feeling of lack of empowerment

*Employee Size 1,532 (IDC estimates as on March 31, 2003)

At Noida-based EXL Services, employees were most satisfied with their compensation packages (ranked #3) and appraisal system (ranked #8), even as 64% of them said they felt very secure in their jobs against an industry average of 58%. With the company being among the better paymasters, nearly 88% of employees felt they were paid enough. Good money combined with high job security levels, meant only 12% of employees said they would leave if another reputed company offered them a 20% salary hike. A real concern area, however, was people. Employees expressed serious dissatisfaction with their managers and peers, but gave a thumb up to the company’s leadership. Also, job content and growth opportunities were an issue and also the most likely reasons employees would quit. Only 45% of employees said they looked forward to a long-term career in the company—among the lowest in the industry. Interestingly, 21% of employees named American Express as their dream employer.
