A 14% growth in the first half of FY 09 bode well, but the challenge lies in
matching that performance in the subsequent quarters. Another big challenge
would be to manage its credit and cash flow.
The financial year started with SonicWALL enlisting Redington as its RMA
partner. Meanwhile Authenex, the US-based security vendor, appointed Redington
as its sole distributor in India. With space becoming premium, Redington Q2 FY
09 took initiatives to better manage its warehouse space. It firmed up plans to
create ADCs in four metros and invested significantly in this. The company has
around 58 warehouses pan India.
The companys power back-up portfolio too got a new addition with Eaton
signing a global distribution pact. This is a significant move for Eaton, would
now get a pan India reach. For Redington, it can tap further from the power
back-up opportunity which is going through a buoyant phase.
Redington also signed up with a Singapore-based company to distribute their
products. Besides this, Redington has also transferred its Middle East and
Africa (MEA) business, Redington Gulf FZE, Dubai, to its overseas subsidiary.
Investcorp invested $98 mn in the companys Mea Business.
