Just two quarters into FY 09 andAcer has already crossed revenues in excess
of Rs 1,000 crore and a growth of 69% as compared to H1 FY 08. Government and
education continue to be the major draws, with big orders coming from AP schools
and the Tamil Nadu government. BFSI clients like ICICI, Aviva, Bajaj Allianz,
were also buying Acer products.
The emphasis for Acer in these two quarters has been on small form factor
products. The Aspire One notebook, Acers first mobile Internet device in India
at under Rs 23 k, did good business. Acer also launched its options and
accessories business line and appointed Neoteric as the national distributor for
the same. On the desktop side, the Aspire 3600 Ultra Small From factor (uSSF)
caught the buyers imagination.
The JAS quarter was a record for Acer with notebook shipments exceeding one
lakh units, while it topped the market share (20.1%) in widescreen LCD monitors.
To continue the growth trend, it appointed Savex as the national distributor for
monitors. The company expects some slowdown in OND and JFM, but is confident of
pulling off significant growth in FY 09.
