Tavant Technologies witnessed a tough time last year, loosing a major chunk of its business due to the troubled mortgage industry in the US. Despite facing a business crisis the management came up with new initiatives to motivate and boost the confidence of employees uncertain about their future. Following employee-friendly HR strategies and initiatives, Tavant Technologies managed to retain its place in the top 10.

According to the DQ-IDC Best Employer Survey, the companys strength was its culture, which employees feel creates a very positive work environment. The fun-at-work model, flexibility, work-life balance and initiatives for women employees helped Tavant score high on the positive work environment parameter. The company also scored high in the employees sense of great professional and personal accomplishment from the work done.

The other strong area for the company was its employees belief that managers genuinely cared about their professional and personal growth. Tavant believes that for the growth of an organization, the professional and personal growth of an employee is the key factor. And, with an employee strength of around 550, the management was able to give attention to the problems of employees at an individual level.

The company follows a fun-at-work model and lays stress on fulfilling the interests of employees, whether it is the in-house band team, or Synergy, the annual sports Olympics organized to showcase talent. A forum called M-team was formed to consider various issues and provide feedback to the management for creating employee-friendly policies.

But one pain-area for employees is the training offered by the company. According to the management, the reason for ranking low in this area was because of the business crisis that Tavant went through. During this period a majority of its employees were on the bench, and training didnt really have any relevance for the company.
