It is one of the few companies that have consistently been among the top five best employers of the Indian IT industry in our bes Top 20 survey. The company actually managed to move up two notches from last year, at a time when spirits have not been too high, with the slowdown beginning to catch up on India as well.

RMSI has been able to improve upon its position on the strength of its employee scores. It ranks #2 on employee feedback, which compensates for its poor performance on the HR front, where it ranks #15.

With the company on an expansion mode, hiring, attrition and retention were among the key focus areas for the company. Attrition was a major concern area for RMSI in the previous year. The company was successful in bringing down its attrition rate from over 14% to around 11%, becoming the company with the third lowest attrition rate. It also boasts of the fourth highest rate of retention among the companies surveyed.

Considering the niche area (geo spatial) that the company operates in, hiring is a big challenge. And expansion being the flavor of the year, RMSI focused on new hiring modes. The company also started focusing on lateral hiring, not restricting itself to hiring freshers and then training them. This in turn led to a foray into newer territories like hiring through social and technical networking sites. It further strengthened its employee referral programs and RMSI hired extensively through this mode.

Among other activities undertaken during the year was a distinct orientation toward leadership development, career development, and continuous and open communication. Some of the initiatives undertaken in this regard include Fast Track Growth Plan, Employee Contact Program, Counseling for Professionals, etc. The company is also known for its flexibility. Whether its HR policies or work timings, RMSIs culture is open to bending the rules for employee benefit without adversely affecting work. No doubt then that the employees are happy.
