Avaya, the parent company of AGCL entered into a merger agreement with Sierra
Holdings and Sierra Merger to merge Sierra Merger. with Avaya, consequent to
which Sierra Merger ceased to exist. The company expanded its R&D operations in
Pune and appointed Samir Gulve as the MD, Avaya India, and VP, Avaya Global
Communication Solutions division. Avaya consolidated its product offerings in
the enterprise mobility space by collaborating with Motorola to provide handheld

FY 08 was a time for re-alignment for EMC in India. After re-alignment in
its go-to-market strategy earlier in the year, there was change in guard with
Alok Ohrie succeeding Manoj Chugh (promoted to lead the global accounts practice
for EMC in Asia Pacific and Japan) as the president of EMC India and Saarc
region. It expanded its portfolio with 25 new information infrastructure
products and solutions. The increased momentum delivered by its India
go-to-market strategy led to further expansion with EMC opening its seventh
