Emerson invested heavily on resellers and partners at the regional levels and initiated programs like Zip Zap Zoom, Matrix Loaded, and Buy Online. It acquired Motorolas Embedded Communications Computing group and Knurr AG, a German IT manufacturer. Focusing on promoting power saving strategies, Emerson launched a program called EnergyLogic in partnership with IBM, Cisco, Vmware, and Dell. It introduced products Like digital scroll for compressors and CFD analysis as part of its environment friendly cooling solutions.

Even though close to half its revenues come from North America, Zensar Technologies weathered the dual whammy of the US economic meltdown and dollar depreciation quite bravely. The risk mitigation strategies adopted by the company seem to be paying off. It has made quite significant gains in emerging markets; its South Africa practice grew by 88% and its India and Middle East operations grew by 143% last fiscal. The company added 82 new clients, of which 35 were from emerging markets. On the cards is a possible $4-5 mn European acquisition.

Though Honeywell in India spanned technology and manufacturing, it was the Honeywell Technology Solutions Lab (HTSL) that purveyed IT. HTSL partnered Honeywell businesses worldwide in various functions like MRO, telematics, SCM, CRM, PLM, e-business, HR, finance, and mechanical engineering analysis. It planned an expansion of its centers and was active on the CSR front. Its Educators @ Space Academy program organized workshops, and brought Nobel laureate physicist Sheldon Lee Glashow to lecture at Belgaums VT University.

Last year, HP contributed 40% and Lenovo 30% to Iris overall revenue. It added Lenovos new consumer line of notebooks and desktops to its portfolio and performed well in HPs run rate business. The new principles added were APC for smart UPSs and HCL. These contributed 10-12% to its revenue. It discontinued distribution activities for Xenitis and BenQ and signed up with IBM for Infoprint. Iris witnessed a rise in demand from the western region and increased its presence in 7 new B- and C-class cities.

After a turbulent time in FY 07, which saw the exit of two CEOs globally, Keane delisted in early 2007 and was taken over by Caritor the same year. The new entity retained the Keane name, with India manpower rising significantly, at about 7,000 now (1,000 in BPO). The year also saw the appointment of a new India head. While most of the year was spent in consolidating operations across seven locations in IndiaGurgaon, Noida, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai, it saw signing up of some MoUs with leading engineering colleges in India.
