Quantum pumped in $10 mn to establish its India Development Center in Hyderabad.
This R&D facility would help in faster time-to-market of new disk, software, and
tape solutions. The center is focused on developing the DXi-Series of disk-based
backup appliances that would play a critical role in the companys backup,
recovery, and archive strategy going forward. Quantum also doubled the size of
its sales, marketing, and service team. The company appointed Sanjay Kumar Dutta
to head the India operations as country manager.

During the year, Polycom made significant investment in India in setting up
a product and solutions development center in Hyderabad. The facility, which has
over 70 employees, houses development programs for the portfolio of voice
communications solutions for mobile, desktop, and conferencing applications.
Polycom opened offices at eight locations across India. The company also
outlined aggressive plans for entry into the retail market with plans to tie-up
with retail chains to enable walk-in customers to buy its products.
