The year saw MRO-TEK bagging an order for its optical access products from NTT Communications of Japan. This helped the company register a positive growth in FY 08. MRO-TEK also took a strategic decision to focus on exports and thereby saw a considerable increase in exports volumes. While it launched new products like Daisy 105 M switches for Ethernet, 3G applications, triple play and R&D remained focus areas. The last mile of the new Bangalore International Airport is also running on MRO-TEK infrastructure.

There were no fresh tie-ups in FY 08, as Embee persisted with its consolidation effort by staying focused on growing around existing relations. Most of the efforts went into building higher capabilities in the areas of workflow solution, consolidation, virtualization, and facilities management with repeat orders coming in the range of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 5 crore. Microsoft and HP were the two largest partners contributing almost Rs 60 crore and Rs 30 crore respectively.

Omnitech became a public listed company in FY 08, and incorporated Omnitech Technologies as a wholly owned subsidiary in the US. Omnitech InfoSolutions and Almutawa joined hands to promote OmniGulf Technologies in Bahrain that subsequently set-up Bahrains first managed DR centre focusing mainly on the BFSI sector. It launched what it claimed to be Indias first third party workforce recovery center, Omnicenter in Navi Mumbai. Its total services business almost doubled to Rs 102 crore.

Taking cognizance of the competition from NIIT, Aptech, and HCL in the hardware training domain, Jetking looked to expand its presence in tier-2 cities in FY 09. As a precursor, the company opened 25 new centers in cities like Vishakhapatnam, Indore, Bharatpur, and Vijaywada taking the total to 115 centers. This fiscal, Jetking is looking to strengthen its presence in the Southern region with the opening of 25-30 centers targeting a 60% jump in its revenues.

While the focus remained on the US market, Lanco Global Systems forayed into the European and West Asian markets to tap business intelligence opportunities. The merger of Lanco Global Systems and Lanco Global Systems was also completed. Lanco entered into agreements with US companies to serve them in public services and defense verticals. The company also put in efforts to raise Rs 160 crore through FCCBs. It announced its plans to set up an NOC in Hyderabad to provide remote infrastructure services.
