106 | Applabs
Focus on India emerged as one of the key themes for Applabs during FY 08,
and further appointed its current president and COO, Makarand Teje as the CEO.
The company also grew its service portfolio to performance testing with the
Indian market and customers in mind. However, there was no luck with customer
wins in India. The other services that it looked at were regressing,
certification, testing automatic services, and quality process consultancy.
Globally, AppLabs struck better luck and added 26 customers during the year.

107 | Ness
Technologies India
Even with a slowdown in the technology sector, Ness Technologies continued
its India ramp-up in Bangalore. It stuck to its Extended Development Center (EDC)
model in its product development outsourcing for ISVs and managed to attract
non-ISV clients last year. Notable wins were Quintiles in the life sciences,
Pearson in publishing, and ITV in broadcasting. In the life sciences area, Ness
strengthened its presence by acquired MS9 Consulting, a specialized IT services
firm with clients like Novartis and Bayer.
