With the Rupee playing spoilsport, Q1 of FY 08, was challenging for Helios
where the highest ever Rupee appreciation happened. But Helios met the
challenges fairly well with repeat and increased business from its existing
clients in the healthcare, in which it has strong domain expertise. It saw good
business from other verticals as well. The company attributes improved
realization coupled with productivity efficiencies have helped it to absorb the
impact of Rupee appreciation and helped it to increase its operating margins.

99 | Zenith
Computers
After two consecutive years of registering double-digit growth, Zenith seems to
have slipped somewhere as is evident from its flat year. It is a sign that one
of the biggest domestic hardware companies is feeling the heat from the
international biggies like HP, Lenovo, and Dell. Even the introduction of a
sub-25k laptop did not seem to alleviate the troubles, as the notebook sales
have not really picked up. On the positive side, the companys foray into
lifestyle products like LCDs seems to working. However, Zenith faces a tough
road ahead.

With launches of new range of printers and UPSs, the company expanded its
portfolio in the overall peripherals segment. The strategic partnership between
Wep and Electronics & Control Power System has potentially helped the growth of
the UPS market in India. However, more than half of Weps revenue was from the
sale of its printers range alone. The company launched BP-40, an automated
billing solution for the small retailers at the bottom end of the retail
pyramid.
