In line with the companys integration approach, it also made significant top-level recruitmentsGopinathan Padmanabhan and Pallab Bandyopadhyay joined as COO for the applications business and the head of HR for Asia Pacific, respectively. The companys traditional strength is in healthcare, which got a boost by the acquisition of JJWild.

FY 08 saw Tulip position itself as a total enterprise communications service provider, offering solutions from LAN to WAN to connectivity and bandwidth. Hence, the name change to Tulip Telecom. A sensible strategy considering that the MPLS/IP VPN business contributed a little more than half to its overall revenue. About 40% of revenues came from network integration for government projects. Some big-ticket wins included the West Bengal and Assam SWAN projects (each valued at Rs 60 crore) and the Haryana SWAN, which is the first complete SWAN project.

There were large managed services and network integration projects in enterprises as well. PNB, Barclays Bank, Aditya Birla group, HDFC Bank, SREI, Future General Insurance, Airport Authority of India, and Dominos Pizza were few marquee clients added to the kitty.

On an otherwise healthy year, the only dampener was the exit of two senior executives who had joined from Cisco only the year before.
