While the ‘utilities’ market in the US is estimated to have spent $16 billion on IT services—this spending is estimated to grow at 12 per cent per annum from 2001 to 2005—the Nasscom market intelligence service report also gives a list of 81 companies in the country. These companies have been ranked on the basis of profit margin; assuming that those with lower than industry average margins (about 5.4 per cent) could be exploring cost reductions more intensely than others.
The companies in bold are ranked as innovative IT users as per industry surveys.
