Jury Speak
Pradeep Gupta, CMD, CyberMedia set the ball rolling by pointing out some
interesting trends that the jury spotted during a rigorous assessment process.
IT is clearly playing a far more strategic role as we see, it is heartening to
see it taking centerstage. Also, we have seen many applications woven in
alignment to specific lines of business. As he remarked about how IT is going
24x7 and non-stop, he mentioned that IT will have to take a new shift in view of
the future, as it will see its users going more mobile and demanding than ever.
Talking of Green IT, Gupta left the audience with a thought to mull over: Green
IT is surely a theme now, but whose KRA (key result area) is it at the end of
the day?
Ganesh Natarajan also shared his pleasure at seeing Indian CIOs evolving to
what they are today as he talked about various nominations and the awards. I am
truly impressed with the Green IT award. It goes to show that green is not just
about e-waste or virtualization of servers but much more. He urged the industry
to reflect seriously on the social divide that is a challenge. Events like the
one at Singur are symptomatic of a major malaise. We should focus seriously on
inclusivity.
The Enterprise Connect Awards are built around a framework that recognizes a
CIOs leadership qualities, business-technology understanding, people
orientation and performance through pioneering and innovating efforts. In the
last four years, a total of 500 large enterprises have participated in the
Enterprise Connect Awards. The former winners include Tata Motors, Reliance
Industries, CESC, ICICI Bank, North Delhi Power, Reliance Infocomm, Bharti Tele
Ventures, TVS Motor Company, State Bank of India, Gati, Fortis Healthcare and
many more.
