What segment of the BPO market is Proficio focusing on?
Proficio Geo Technologies is focused on providing end-to-end logistics
solution based on GIS, GPS and SMS system. We are a rapidly growing company,
currently focusing on employees' logistics for the BPO segment. But it plans
to foray into other verticals such as employees' logistics in MNCs and PSUs,
as the system also addresses issues of cost-saving by optimum usage of vehicles.
In the near future, the other segments that Proficio plans to get into include
retail, garments and FMCG. The company plans to expand its India operations by
setting up offices in four cities including Pune, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad in
addition to the Bangalore office.
What technology interventions does the company bring to table as far as
rostering, routing, tracking and employee notification of BPO transport is
concerned?
Rostering is basically setting a schedule for all the BPO employees
and is currently being done manually. This means hundreds of excel sheets will
be delivered to the logistics manager. Our solution ProTMS simplifies the
process through a single window approach, which basically means that the
information is given on a single platform wherein the team leader will login and
set the schedule and the logistics team can access this data. The team then
forms the input for the routing module. Routing modules, such as ProTms, which
are based on GIS maps, take into account the proximity and discounts the address
routing. This results in more accurate routing, timesaving in execution and
travel time. Plus, as the solution is automated it ensures better visibility for
improved generation of reports. ProTms provides a map accuracy of 98%. The
tracking module keeps sending reports on the vehicle on a minute-to-minute basis
along with the current speed of the vehicle. The GPS solution also gives info
regarding who has boarded the vehicle. Each employee is provided with a smart
card, which he/she swipes on entry into the vehicle and this gets tracked
immediately and recorded in the central office of the logistics manager. As soon
as the ProTms generates the report regarding the route plan, the information is
communicated to the relevant employees and the vendor/driver. This is an
automated MS and the ProTms has the ability to send 300 SMSs per minute.
How will these interventions bring in accountability and more visibility
in the whole logistics management chain?
In the manual process, transportation billing happens on approximation and
is heavily dependent on the individual who audits the trip sheets. Similarly,
vehicle allocation is also dependent on individual in the logistics team. The
management cannot verify the actual usage of the vehicle and neither can the
logistics team justify the usage of vehicles and the consequent billing. This is
mainly due to lack of visible concrete date to support either of their
arguments. With the implementation of the ProTms, the entire manual process of
transportation management, which is based on approximation, is done away with.
Issues such as meter tampering, adhoc route planning and rostering etc get
addressed with the ProTms. Specific and all encompassing routes are planned
including aspects such as time of the route, vehicular traffic at that hour,
existence of by-lanes, detours specified by the traffic police, kind of vehicle,
etc. All this data coupled with a databank of information in the server ensure
improved visibility in a shorter timeframe.
