MakeMyTrip.com is a one-stop travel website that offers real time bookings from anytime, anywhere. Deep Kalra, founder and CEO, MakeMyTrip says, “The power of information and decision making rests with the customer, bringing about a change from the travel agent scenario.” The Indian search engine, aptly termed Fare Pundit, consolidates the lowest airfares from all airlines on a single platform for the best deal. It books about 2000 air tickets and 150 hotel rooms daily. The business model entails real-time travel booking on flights and hotels, round the clock customer support, lowest airfare guarantee along with the convenience of booking anytime, anywhere.

Founded: September 2005
CEO: Deep Kalra
Investors: Originally funded in 2000 by eVentures. Post their exit, the management of MakeMyTrip.com bought out their stake. Presently Softbank Asia Infrastructure Fund holds a little more than 50%.
Initial Business Model: Focussed on NRI's traveling to India
Current Business Model: Concentrates on travel to, from and within India. Both businesses (in-bound and NRIs and Indians traveling in and out of India) will contribute to the current fiscal.
Revenues: Have already done $ 41 mn

Unlike most of its counterparts, MakeMyTrip.com is focused only on its online travel business. It has served over 40,000 NRIs in the last five years. It has a registered database of 125,000 NRIs and has an impressive y-o-y customer renewal rate of 30%. The portal would continue to concentrate on the online travel segment. “It would continue with the pioneering work in the online travel industry, so you will see a lot of firsts being introduced by MakeMyTrip.com,” Kalra adds.
