Canon Opens Professional Center at Chennai
Canon India has announced the launch of Canon Professional Center at Chennai. Canon has tied up with a leading photography training institute, Ambitions 4 Photography, in Chennai to provide training facilities for two hours every first and third Saturday to the Digital Compact camera customers and for four hours every second Saturday to the Canon Edge members purchasing Canon DSLR cameras respectively.

BT Opens Global Operations Center in India
BT has announced the opening of its global operations center at Gurgaon. The center will execute processes for various BT lines of business in addition to providing functional support to group functions such as procurement, legal, finance, and human resources. The center will employ up to 300 professionals. BT accounts for 2% of Indias $50 bn IT and BPO exports, and is planning to source more over the years.

PacNet to Address Bandwidth Demand in India
PacNet, a leading telecom services provider, formed by the operational merger of Asia Netcom and Pacific Internet, has reiterated its commitment to address the bandwidth requirement of India and Asia as a whole. In India, PacNet has applied for ILD and NLD licenses. The company plans to expand its coverage and enhance capacity through strategic alliances with key partners. PacNet will also deploy IP and IPVPN nodes across the country.

Livemocha Adopts Social Networking Approach
Livemocha, a Seattle-based next generation language learning company makes entry into India by offering a host of foreign and English language services for individual and corporate users. Livemocha, backed by Maveron, is a unique Web-based language learning solution, integrating online instructional content with a global community of language learners. The portal is based on the social networking/user community concept that provides an ideal platform to learn English and other foreign languages through the help of native language speakers all over the world.

TCS Inaugurates North America Delivery Center
TCS has announced the opening of its North America delivery center called TCS Seven Hills Park. Located in Milford, the facility sits on 220 wooded acres and is the largest TCS facility in North America. TCS hosted a grand opening of the new facility, which includes 200,000 sq ft of office space and can accommodate up to 1,000 TCS associates. The facility will serve as the primary software development and delivery center for North American customers.

Sahara Computers Focuses on Eastern India
Sahara Computers, a South African PC giant and one of the leading players in the IT and hardware sectors, is looking at further strengthening its focus on the eastern market. The company has some rigorous plans for carrying out activities like carnivals, road shows, and service camps to further penetrate the market and bring PC awareness. Sahara Computers will focus on the all the B, C and D class cities and towns in eastern India. The company has already organized carnivals in Kolkatta and adjoining areas and the response for the same was magnificent.

InfoVision in Chennai
Delhi-based InfoVision has opened its new facility in Chennai and plans to invest Rs 50-100 crore in the southern region by 2010. The company plans to expand into tier-2 and 3 cities like Mysore, Coimbatore, and Kochi. The new facility is spread across 50,000 sq ft and would accommodate over 1,000 employees by 2008-end.

ECI Opens New RBU
ECI Telecom, a provider of networking infrastructure, has created a new regional business unit (RBU) to encompass India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Kiran Pande, the current manager of the Indian country office, will head the new unit. ECI said that the companys operations in the region have been growing steadily for the past few years and this move reflects the growing importance of these countries for the company.

SIS Opens US Subsidiary
Stellar Information Systems (SIS), the industrys leading and most-advanced provider of data recovery products and services, is now setting up its subsidiary office in New Jersey, in the east coast of the US. Stellar is the first Indian data recovery company to open an office in the US. The company will also set up a Class 100 Clean Room at this location.

Jivox to Operate in India
California-based Jivox has announced the commencement of its Indian operationsJivox Software Indiathrough a sales and development office in Bangalore. The company is now all set to launch its unique online video advertising service for the Indian market. Headed by Naren Nachiappan, MD, India, the Bangalore center would house the core sales and marketing team as well as the development team.
