Mercator, CSC Set Up Center in Bangalore
Mercator, the IT division of Dubai-based Emirates Group, and Computer Sciences Corporation, have inaugurated the dedicated development center (DDC) in Bangalore. The opening of the DDC is part of a previously announced contract signed between Mercator and Covansys, a company now merged with CSC India. The new DDC will offer Mercators travel and transportation industry clients scalable IT services including product development, applications development and maintenance, testing services, technology consulting, and project management.

Tandberg Inaugurates R&D Facility in Bangalore
Tandberg, a leading global provider of telepresence, high-definition videoconferencing and mobile video solutions, has announced the inauguration of its research and development (R&D) technology center in Bangalore. The facility is Tandbergs first R&D facility in India, and will drive the development of innovative technology solutions in the area of video communications. The R&D center will create new intellectual properties for Tandberg and develop next-generation video communications solutions that will enable organizations to increase productivity, reduce travel costs, and contribute to greener world by reducing unnecessary business travel.

Spancos New BPO Facility in Singapore
Spanco Telesystems and Solutions has recently announced the commencement of its BPO and back-office service operations in Singapore. Clients such as Singapore Flyer, Formula One, and Tourism are the latest to sign up with Spanco, as it looks onto expanding their portfolio in the BPO domain. Spanco is setting up upto a 100-seater facility currently to cater to its existing clients and would be inaugurating it this month. The Singapore facility would handle inbound calls. Spanco recently acquired Great IT in Singapore for providing BPO and back office services for Singapore Flyer, the largest observatory wheel in the world.

Xerox Rolls Out NEXT for Channel Partnership
Xerox India has launched NEXT (New Enhanced Xerox Team) channel program that offers enhanced value proposition for the entire spectrum of Xeroxs channel and alliance partners. The program provides a platform for Xerox to combine its entire range of products, solutions, consumables, after sales services as one single unified business to engage, empower and reward the channel community. The program will focus on empowering channel partners by providing sales and technical training, marketing and sales support that will enable the partners and Xerox managers to jointly engage with the end customers.

Frost & Sullivan Expands Engagement with CSS
Frost & Sullivan (F&S) has expanded its outsourcing engagement with Cybernet-SlashSupport (CSS). CSS has been engaged with F&S in consulting, application development and maintenance and technology support work. CSS offered F&S a best in class solution encompassing IBM technologies, which was key to its decision to outsource the development of several applications. As part of the expanding engagement, CSS will help F&S develop a 360-degree project feedback module that will work with F&Ss project management application.

TCS New Center in Pune
TCS has announced the commencement of the development of its largest center, TCS Sahyadri Park at Hinjewadi in Pune, Maharashtra. TCS Sahyadri Park will be developed over 50 acres of land to create a capacity of 20,000 seats with the first phase to be completed by March 2009 with 7,000 seats. The entire facility will be completed by the end of 2010.

Wipro to Add 35,000 Seats
Wipro Technologies has announced the expansion of its operation in Chennai. The company is setting up an 80-acre facility in Sholinganallur-ELCOT SEZ and it has additionally invested in a 90-acre facility in Mahindra city SEZ. The Sholinganallur-ELCOT Special Economic Zone (SEZ), being set up to accommodate 35,000 seats, is already operational.

Perot Extends Contract
Perot Systems and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care have extended their IT and business process services contract through 2021. Under the new 13-year contract worth $1 bn, Harvard Pilgrim will realize approximately $150 mn of administrative cost savings over the life of the agreement. Perot Systems will operate and support Harvard Pilgrims information technology infrastructure, business applications, and administrative business operations.

McAfees New Unit
McAfee recently announced the launch of a new business unit, Risk and Compliance Business unit, focused on IT governance, risk and compliance. The new unit will focus on driving innovation and extending McAfees lead in security risk management. George Kurtz, senior VP and general manager at McAfee, will head the newly-formed unit.
