Corel Launches First PDF Office Suite
Corel has released Corel WordPerfect Office X4. Available for download, WordPerfect Office X4, the first PDF office suite combines all the features that WordPerfect Office is known for.

It offers a full range of PDF capabilities and makes it easy for users to import, edit and export PDF documents, including scanned PDFs, simplifying user workflows and reducing the need for third-party PDF software.

ActivIdentity Rolls out 4TRESS Kerberos Agent
ActivIdentity, a company that provides digital identity assurance, has released 4TRESS Kerberos Agent for Microsoft IIS, which works in conjunction with the Actividentity 4TRESS AA server. The release also extends the ActivIdentity support for the Microsoft product suite. 4TRESS Kerberos Agent eliminates the need for a user to enter his/her Windows password, in addition to a one-time password during the authentication process.

i-flex Solutions has announced the availability of version 2.2 of FLEXCUBE core banking for IBM System z on z/OS with IBM WebSphere and IBM DB2 software stack. The new version combines FLEXCUBE and IBM System z to enable global financial institutions to respond swiftly to the changing market dynamics. SOA enabled FLEXCUBE fits seamlessly into IBM System z deployments using IBM software.

OpenSocial App on Orkut
Social networking website Orkut has introduced OpenSocial applications for the Orkut online community. These applications, created by third party developers, allow users to customize Orkut profile by adding games, music and much more.

With the launch of applications, Orkut users will have access to more new features everyday, thereby improving the user experience at a faster rate. These applications will speed up innovation, unleash developers' creativity, said Vinay Goel, head of Products, Google India.

Hitachi Launches Ultrastar 15K450 Drive
Hitachi has launched the Ultrastar 15K450 drive, which uses perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology to deliver 450 Gb of storage.

450 Gb Ultrastar drive delivers 30% more I/Os than its predecessor. Currently, the highest available capacity in 15,000 RPM enterprise-class hard drives is an ideal solution for mission-critical server and storage applications, such as online transaction processing, intensive database queries and other multi-user applications. The drive features average seeks times as low as 3.3 milliseconds and the fast rotational speeds reduce average latency time to 2 milliseconds, enabling customers to access data more quickly.

New 45NM Core 2 Duo Processor from Intel
Intel has announced the 45 nm Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E8400 with seven-year lifecycle support for embedded applications. Based on Intels revolutionary high-k metal gate transistor formula and manufactured on the companys 45 nm process, the E8400 processor offers increased performance by doubling transistor density and increasing cache size up to 6 Mb, which is a three-fold enhancement over the previous-generation Intel Core2 Duo E6400.

Math Algorithms to Manage Disasters by IBM
IBM has announced that its scientists have created specialized math algorithms to help model and manage disasters like wildfires, floods and diseases. IBM's 'stochastic optimization model' was developed by IBM math scientists from IBM Research Labs in New York and India, working with business experts from IBM's Global Business Services. IBM developed a large-scale strategic budgeting framework for managing natural disaster events, with a focus on better preparedness for future uncertain disaster scenarios.

Sun, Fujitsu Expand SPARC Enterprise Server Line
Sun Microsystems and Fujitsu expanded the Sun and Fujitsu SPARC Enterprise server line with the introduction of two new systems based on the UltraSPARC T2 Plus processor. The third-generation CMT SPARC Enterprise T5140 and T5240 servers deliver breakthrough performance and scalability and help enable customers to consolidate the data center into an ultra-dense, energy efficient compute environment, optimized and managed by the Solaris 10 Operating System.
