NetApp Renews Deal
NetApp and Data Domain have entered into a revised acquisition agreement under which NetApp would acquire all of the outstanding shares of Data Domain common stock for $30 per share in cash and stock. The transaction is valued at approximately $1.9 bn net of Data Domains cash.

HCL Eyes Acquisitions
A recent Bloomberg report says that Indias leading software services company, HCL Technologies has plans to take advantage of the recession by making acquisitions. HCL CEO Vineet Nayar said, In the downturn, you should press the accelerator. Nayar also observed that no organization can grow and create value for its customers without a highly motivated workforce that can be aligned to the strategic plan.

Informatica Takes over AddressDoctor
Informatica, a provider in data integration software and services, has acquired AddressDoctor. It offers technology to perform global address validation for more than 200 countries and territories. AddressDoctor is a pioneer and leader in global address validation technology. These capabilities include support for multiple levels of addressing such as street level, delivery point validation, and geocoding.

Micro Focus Laps up Compuware ASQ Biz
Micro Focus International, a provider in enterprise application software, has completed the acquisition of application testing / automated software quality business of Compuware. Micro Focus said that the products within the Compuware testing and ASQ business are complementary to Micro Focus core application management and modernization solutions.

Intel Acquires Wind River
Intel has agreed to buy Wind River Systems for $11.50 per share in cash, or $884 mn in the aggregate. Wind River offers embedded Linux operating system and is a leader in software design tools for devices such as smartphones. Wind River will become part of Intels strategy to grow its processor and software presence outside the traditional PC and server market segments into embedded systems and mobile handheld devices.

Avaya Takes Agile Software
Avaya has acquired Agile Software NZ, the developer of the Avaya Contact Center Express solution. With this, Avaya gains full ownership of Avaya Contact Center Express, which will help enable the company and its partners to accelerate their growth in the mid-market space.
