AOL Acquires Patch Media
AOL has acquired Patch Media Corporation, and Going. Both Patch and Going
offer local experiences, content, and self-service applications for consumers
and advertisers. The acquisitions came as Time Warner prepares to spin off AOL
into an independent company. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Nortel Finds Buyer
Nortel has finally managed to find a buyer for its wireless unit. Nokia
Siemens Networks has agreed to pay $650 mn for the wireless unit of Nortel. The
transaction includes Nortels CDMA business and LTE assets. The acquisition
would see more than 2,500 Nortel employees transferred to NSN.
Sapient to Acquire Nitro
Sapient would acquire Nitro Group, an advertising network that serves major
clients such as Mars, ConAgra, Volvo, Nike and Foot Locker. Nitro Groups
network was founded in Shanghai; its global presence now spans across four
continents. Together, Sapient and Nitro Group would leverage their combined
capabilities in integrated advertising, digital commerce, marketing technology,
and social media to help clients create brand experiences.
Micro Focus Raises Cash Offer for Borland
Micro Focus International has increased its fully funded cash offer from
$1-1.15/share for each outstanding Borland Softwares share. This values the
acquisition of Borlands equity, on a fully diluted basis, at approximately $88
mn. The terms of the revised offer have been unanimously approved by the board
