Dell Buys Perot for $3.9 bn
Dell has announced that it will buy Perot Systems for $3.9 bn. The two
companies expect to provide a broad range of IT services and packages, expanding
the global reach of Perot Systems and selling Dell computer systems to
additional Perot customers. The move could be a shot in the arm for Dell, giving
it a way to diversify beyond its bread-and-butter business of selling hardware.
Perot Systems has built a large customer base in North America, Europe, the
Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
IBM to Acquire RedPill
IBM Corporation announced an agreement to acquire the business of RedPill
Solutions, a privately-held company headquartered in Singapore. RedPills data
models and expertise, developed through the successful execution of multiple
analytics projects, would enhance IBMs current work to improve the speed and
quality of clients business decisions. Analytics services are also an integral
part of IBMs Smarter Planet strategy, which helps companies turn information
into a strategic asset and make smarter business decisions.
Roamware Acquires Macalla
Roamware has completed the acquisition of Macalla Software, a developer of
mobile financial services solutions. Macallas m-commerce and mobile banking
solutions are successfully deployed by banks and operators around the world.
These solutions include credit transfer, international remittance, person to
person transactions, top-up and bill payment. With this acquisition, Roamware
aims to build upon its roaming expertise and become a market leader in MFS,
specifically addressing the needs of low income, unbanked communities.
Cognizant Acquires Pepperweed Advisors
Cognizant announced the acquisition of substantially all of the assets of
Pepperweed Advisors, the IT consulting services division of Pepperweed
Consulting. The acquisition brings to Cognizants a strategic consulting
capability in two areas: IT service management (ITSM) and IT asset management (ITAM),
along with seasoned consulting talent and significant intellectual property,
including well defined ITIL based processes, tools, and frameworks.
Prizm Acquires POS Business from Reliance
Prizm Payment Services has announced its expansion in the area of point-of-sales
(POS)/merchant acquiring services. It has acquired the POS services business of
Reliance Money, which have been in existence for the past fifteen months. The
announcement was made by Loney Antony, managing director, Prizm Payments.
Reliance Money had set-up its transaction payment gateway and connectivity to
international card issuing/ settlement organizations like Visa/MasterCard and
have established a successful franchisee base of merchants and POS installation
and support services over the past fifteen months, which is now being
transferred to Prizm Payments.

The Delhi chapter of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) in association with Lumis
Partners announced the winners of the TiE-Lumis Partners Entrepreneurial
Excellence Awards. Out of over 100 entries that were received from across
different cities in India, six were shortlisted to present their plans at
TiEcon Delhi 2009. The three entries that finally went on to win the coveted
awards were: mChek, AISECT, and The Loot. |
Adobe to Buy Omniture
Adobe has reached a deal to acquire Omniture for $1.8 bn, or $21.50 per
share. That represents a 45% premium to Omnitures average closing price for the
last thirty days. Omniture, which was started in 1996, has about 1,200 employees
and took in just under $300 mn in the twelve months ending December 31. Adobe
CEO Shantanu Narayen called the move a game changer for the company. The two
companies said the deal is expected to close during Adobes Q4 and is subject to
government approvals.
CA to Acquire NetQoS
CA has signed a definitive agreement to acquire NetQoS for $200 mn. With the
addition of the NetQoS network flow monitoring, unified communications
management, and response time analytic network solutions, CA will further
strengthen its ability to help enterprise IT organizations and service providers
deliver reliable, flexible and cost-effective IT and business services.
MindTree to Acquire Kyocera India
MindTree has signed an agreement with Kyocera Wireless to acquire Kyocera
Wireless, its Indian subsidiary. Under the agreement, MindTree will make an
upfront payment of approximately $6 mn, and further payments linked to revenues
in FY 11 and FY 12.
Xerox to Acquire ACS
Xerox Corporation would acquire outsourcing entity Affiliated Computer
Services for about $6.4 bn in a cash and stock deal. Xerox would be shelling out
$63.11 per share for ACS. As per the agreement, ACS shareholders would receive a
total of $18.60 per share in cash plus 4.935 Xerox shares for each ACS share
they own.
Nokia Acquires Dopplr
Nokia has acquired Dopplr Oy, a privately held mobile service provider for
international travelers. The Dopplr team brings to Nokias Services unit unique
know-how in creating Internet based communities and showing their journeys,
experiences and tastes collectively on the web. The acquisition does not change
the current Dopplr service which is available at Dopplr.com.
