Tulip Names New CFO
Tulip Telecom has announced the appointment of Sanjay Jain as its chief financial officer. In this new role, he will be responsible for financial and operational functions within the organization, according to the companys corporate filing. Prior to this, Sanjay has worked with leading industrial houses like Eicher Group, Avantha Group, and Essel Group. He has replaced Dinesh Kaushal, former CFO at Tulip Telecom.

Indian Shares Nobel
Three scientists, including an India-born Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, shared the 2009 Nobel Prize for chemistry for showing how ribosome functions. The others are American scientist Thomas Steitz and Israeli Ada Yonath, who would share the prize worth $1.4 mn. Their research shows how the ribosome, which produces protein, functions at the atomic level. Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, born in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, is a scientist at the Medical Research Councils prestigious Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge.

Kurtz is McAfee CTO
McAfee Inc.has announced the appointment of George Kurtz as executive vice president and worldwide chief technology officer (CTO). Kurtz would be responsible for creating and leading McAfees office of the CTO and driving product innovation. He will continue to report to Dave DeWalt, president and chief executive officer, McAfee.

Singh to Head Online Sales at BIG
Indian entertainment conglomerate Reliance BIG Entertainment has announced the appointment of Anand Singh as the head, online sales for BIG Online Network. BIG Online is a digital network, which includes BIGFlix.com, BIGADDA.com, Zapak.com and BIGOYE.com. Anand Singh will be responsible for driving strategic online sales and bringing in advertising clients across sectors.

Macleod National CEO
National Semiconductor has announced that Brian L Halla will retire as chief executive officer effective November 30, 2009. Halla will remain executive chairman of the company. He will be succeeded by Donald (Don) Macleod, who will become the companys president and chief executive officer (CEO) and be appointed to its Board of Directors, effective November 30, 2009. Macleod currently serves as Nationals president and COO.

Country Manager for WD
WD, a provider of storage services, has announced the appointment of Sushil Bandi as country manager for the Indian subcontinent. Bandi would report to Sharad Srivastava, director sales, India and South Asia, and would be responsible for spearheading the overall sales, marketing and customer support function for the company in the subcontinent.Sushil has over twenty years of experience in sales, marketing and distribution of IT products globally with specific coverage of Asian and European markets.

Hungama Mobile Hires New COO
Hungama Digital Media has appointed Albert Almeida as chief operating officer for its mobile business. Most recently served as EVP and business head of Sony Entertainment Television, Almeida will be responsible for Hungamas domestic and international mobile business covering entertainment, platforms and applications businesses. Prior to Sony, Almeida has spent fourteen years in advertising and marketing.

A Sushmita Sen impersonator on the social networking site, Facebook, has started asking for money in her name for charity. After being inundated by anxious queries from friends, the Bollywood actress has clarified that she is not the one asking for money. Its not a game. For this gentleman or lady, charity obviously begins and ends at home. My impersonator has even opened an account, www.sushmita-sen.com, where charitable Facebook participants can donate money, said Sen.

Chauhan Quits Nortel
Dhananjay Ganjoo, vice president for enterprise networks in Nortel Asia,, had moved recently to Microsoft. This comes after the recent acquisition of Nortels enterprise solutions business by Avaya, following which several of the companys executives based in India are moving out. Ravi Chauhan, who has been the companys global head for communications enabled business solutions since March 2008, is moving to Juniper Networks as its MD.

Chandrasekaran Succeeds Ramadorai
N Chandrasekaran has assumed the role of chief executive officer and managing director at TCS. Chandrasekaran, previously chief operating officer and executive director, takes over from S Ramadorai, who is stepping down from the executive role to take the position of non-executive vice chairman.

Rachapudi TAKEs New Role
Kishore Rachapudi, former SVP & head, healthcare & life Sciences with Satyam Computer Services, has joined TAKE Solutions as president & COO. Rachapudi brings along twelve years experience at Satyam Computer Services, where he led a team of 1,500. He was instrumental in creating the vision and building the healthcare and life sciences practice from the scratch.

Dutt Quits Samsungfor HP
Samsung country head, Sunil Dutt, has quit the company to join the Personal Systems Group of Hewlett Packard. Dutt will replace Ravi Swaminathan, president, HP India, Personal Systems Group. He would be reporting to HP managing director, Neelam Dhawan. As Samsung country head, Dutt was responsible for spearheading sales and marketing for both Samsung GSM and CDMA mobile business in the country.

3i Infotech Names IT Head
3i Infotech has announced the appointment of Som Sarma as the global IT services head. He would be based in London and would be responsible for expanding the global services business portfolio at 3i Infotech. Prior, Sarma worked with Satyam (now Mahindra Satyam) as senior vice president and head (UK & Ireland).

Invensys Gets New Leaders
Dr Ravi Gopinath and Teemu Tunkelo have joined Invensysa global provider of technology systems, solutions and services to process and manufacturing industriesas regional presidents for APAC and EURA, respectively. Tunkelo has a strong background in a variety of software and systems integration roles for top-tier companiesNokia, Compaq, etc. Gopinath started his career with TCS, where he primarily built and led the global engineering and industrial services business.

Freescale Hires New Country Manager
Freescale Semiconductor has announced the appointment of Vivek Tyagi as country manager, sales for its India operations. In this role, Tyagi will lead the India sales team to drive business growth in the country. Tyagi has nearly two decades experience in distribution, sales and customer relations functions. He joined Freescale Semiconductor India (earlier Motorola Semiconductor) in 1997. Prior, he worked with Philips Semiconductors.

Huawei names Bross as CTO
Huawei has announced the appointment of Matt Bross, as the chief technology officer. In this role, Bross would focus on identifying global telecommunications industry and network architecture trends that will guide Huaweis innovation of products and solutions. Most recently, Bross was group chief technology officer of BT Group and CEO of BT Innovate.

Avaya Names Channels Director
Avaya has appointed Bejoy Antony as the new director, channels and strategic alliances, for its India operations. He will be responsible for leading Avayas channel strategy and go-to-market initiatives across India and the SAARC region. Prior to Avaya, Antony was vice president, channels, Cisco Systems and held diverse strategic and leadership sales roles in Cisco over nine years.

Obopay Names Nagaraja as EVP
Obopay has appointed Dilip Nagaraja as its executive vice president of global engineering, based out of Obopays operations center in Bengaluru. Nagaraja would be responsible for optimizing the global engineering organization across all Obopay offices. Prior to Obopay, Nagaraja led the global product engineering efforts for Intuits accountant products division. Also, he held senior leadership positions in engineering organizations such as Pivotal Corporation, etc.

Panda Heads ITeS in L&T
Dr Keshab Panda, one of the top executives to quit Mahindra Satyam, has joined the L&T Group as CEO of its engineering and ITeS entity. Dr Panda has been given a target of growing the entity into a $500 mn firm in the next three years. At Mahindra Satyam, Panda was heading the large markets of the US and manufacturing and oil and gas.
