Bhasin as Nasscom Chairman

Pramod Bhasin Harsh Manglik

Nasscom has announced the appointment of Pramod Bhasin as the chairman of its executive council for the year 2009-10. Bhasin, who has been a member of the Nasscom executive council and is the president and CEO of Genpact, would succeed Ganesh Natarajan, the chairman for 2008-09. Nasscom also announced the appointment of Harsh Manglik as the vice chairman of the council. Manglik is the chairman and geography managing director for Accenture in India.

Mittal Joins Carnegies Board of Trustees

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to advancing cooperation among nations, has announced that Sunil Mittal, the chairman and managing director of the Bharti Group, has joined its Board of Trustees.

WNS Appoints Sturge
WNS has appointed Rick Sturge as deputy managing director for its Europe operations. He would be responsible for driving the business development efforts, particularly in the travel, leisure, finance and accounting sectors. He would also be working closely with Eric Selvadurai, managing director, Europe. Prior to this Sturge was associated with Chartered Institute of Management Accountants where he served as head of strategic development.

Ghosh is Systime CFO


Systime, a 100% subsidiary of CMS Group, has appointed Aloke Ghosh as its chief financial officer. Most recently, Ghosh was the vice president and head of finance of international business in Reliance Communications. Ghosh is a finance professional with an experience of twenty years within the IT services and manufacturing industries. He has handled global portfolios such as fund-raising through IPO processes, financial modelling including pricing, M&A, international taxation and has also implemented PeopleSoft and SAP for large global corporations.

Yahoo! Appoints Steele

Yahoo! has appointed Elisa Steele as its chief marketing officer. Steele is responsible for Yahoo!s brand, its global marketing strategy and marketing functions including brand marketing, audience marketing, corporate communications, insights, policy and privacy, community affairs, and related central teams. She reports to Carol Bartz, CEO, Yahoo!. Prior to joining Yahoo!, Steele was senior vice president of corporate marketing at NetApp.

Behl to Head BIG TV!


Sanjay Behl, group head, brand and marketing operations, Reliance Communications, has been elevated to the position of CEO for the companys DTH and IPTV businesses operating under BIG TV brand name. He will also continue to hold his current responsibilities where he was a key marketing resource for Reliance ADAG, overseeing corporate architecture. BIG TV is also planning to double its channel bouquet from the current 200 to 400 channels.

Reidy is Progress CEO

Progress Software has appointed Richard D Reidy as its new president and CEO. Reidy will be responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the company. The board of directors also nominated Reidy for election to the board at this years annual meeting of shareholders. Reidy succeeds Joseph W Alsop, who co-founded the company in 1981.

Cynergy Appoints Leavitt

Cynergy Data has appointed Dean M Leavitt as the companys president and a member of its board of directors. A credit card industry professional, Leavitt has served Cynergy Data in a consultative capacity during the past few months. Leavitt will manage acquisition activities with Marcelo Paladini, the companys founder and chief executive officer. He is also responsible for overseeing the companys revenue-generating initiatives through the management of sales and marketing activities.

Kulkarni Resigns as NuTek CEO

Nu Tek India, a telecom infrastructure services provider offering infrastructure rollout solutions for both mobile and fixed telecommunication networks, has announced that Raghvendra Kulkarni has resigned from the post of CEO of the company with effect from April 1, 2009. Kulkarni took over as the chief executive officer of NuTek India in November 2008. Prior to joining NuTek, Kulkarni worked with Lucent Technologies, BPL Mobile, Air India, ONGC offshore vessels, Supreme Telecom and Soma Networks.

Tech Mahindra Appoints Two Directors

BH Wani Ravi Kulkarni

Tech Mahindra inducted Ravi Kulkarni, senior partner, Khaitan Advocates, and member of Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa, as well as BH Wani, senior solicitor and advocate practicing in the Bombay High Court, as additional independent directors of the company with effect from March 30, 2009. With the induction of Kulkarni and Wani, the Tech Mahindra Board strength stands at fourteen.

Zscaler Appoints Sridhar


Zscaler, a global player and the industrys first multi-tenant SaaS security provider, has announced the appointment of N Sridhar, country manager, India, to strengthen and spearhead its operations in the country. With Sridhars appointment, Zscaler hopes to further consolidate and expand its operations in India. Recently, Zscaler launched their Asia Pacific operations along with sales and support in major cities of Singapore, Mumbai, Bangalore, Melbourne, and Hong Kong.

Sonata Hires Subramanya
Bengaluru based IT consulting and services company Sonata Software has appointed Ramachandra Subramanya as head of its SAP business. Subramanya will oversee SAP-enabled business transformation programs for Sonatas customers. Subramanya started his 19-year-old career with MICO (Bosch) and has advised and spearheaded several Fortune 100 Companies across India, the Middle East, US and Europe, on their ERP initiatives.

Nersesian Joins Agilent

Agilent Technologies has appointed Ron Nersesian as senior vice president and general manager of the companys electronic measurement group (EMG). Nersesian, 49, is currently vice president and general manager of EMGs wireless business unit (WBU), Agilents largest business unit with operations in the US, Europe and Asia. Under the new organization, Nersesian will oversee all business operations of both the electronic measurement (EM) and semiconductor and board test (SBT) segments.

Brincko is Spansion CRO
Spansion has retained John P Brincko as chief restructuring officer (CRO). Brinckos firm, Brincko Associates has been listed as one of the Outstanding Turnaround Firms by Turnarounds and Workouts, a publication dedicated to restructuring. As CRO, Brincko will oversee negotiations with Spansions creditors, including debt-holders, to restructure the companys approximately $1.5 bn in secured and unsecured debt.

Srivastava is Chairman of CA India

CA has announced that Saurabh Srivastava, one of the most respected IT industry leaders in India, will join CA effective from April 6, 2009, as chairman of CA India. The announcement was made by Michael Christenson, CAs president and chief operating officer. Srivastava will report directly to Christensen. He will also lead and mentor CAs India sales and development operations.  CA maintains offices in Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi, and a state-of-the-art R&D facility in Hyderabad. Currently more than 30% of CAs worldwide development is performed in India.

PayPal Appoints Irani

PayPal, an eBay company, has announced that it has hired Farhad Irani to lead the companys business in Asia Pacific. Reporting to Philipp Justus, PayPals senior vice president of global markets, Irani will manage PayPals domestic and cross-border business in all of Asia Pacific. Irani will be based out of PayPals international headquarters in Singapore. Asia Pacific is one of PayPals fastest growing regions with more than 12 mn PayPal accounts.

Syniverse Appoints Lori Gonnu


Syniverse Technologies, a provider of technology and business solutions for the telecommunications industry, has named Lori Gonnu as executive vice president and general manager to lead the companys global roaming services and interworking line of business. In her new role, Gonnu will be responsible for continuing to grow the companys leadership position in the roaming space. She will report from Syniverses offices in Paris, France

Chen is Huawei Technologies COO

Justin Chen is the new chief operating officer of Huawei Technologies India (HTIPL), Huaweis largest R&D facility outside of China, focused on developing telecom core platforms and end-to-end telecom solutions. As the COO of Huaweis India R&D center, Justin is committed to delivering on the companys vision and developing its long-term investment and strategic plan for India. His main focus will be on enhancing HTIPLs position.
