Ramadorai Bags CBE

S Ramadorai, CEO and managing director, Tata Consultancy Services, has been
awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) by Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to Indo-British economic relations. The
award was conferred on Ramadorai in Mumbai by the British deputy high
commissioner, Western India, Mrs Vicki Treadell. The CBE is conferred as an
acknowledgement of an individuals exceptional contribution in their field.
Ramadorai has been instrumental since taking over as CEO in 1996 in transforming
TCS into a $6 bn global software company with a geographical reach across
forty-two countries.
NetApp Gets Janey
NetApp India has appointed Rajesh Janey as president, India and SAARC sales. In
his new role, Janey is responsible for accelerating sales and market
development, as well as channel development for NetApp across India and SAARC.
He joins NetApp from EMC where he was vice president, enterprise business, India
and SAARC.
Bekay Back in Microland
Microland, a provider in IT infrastructure management services, has appointed
Jawahar Bekay as executive director and COO of the company. Jawahar Bekay, a
co-founding member of Microland returns to the company after seven years. Prior
to rejoining Microland, Bekay was associated with Collabera, a $300 mn US IT
services firm as their chief strategy officer and CEO of their Indian entity.
Sunil Joins Symbiotic
Chennai-based Symbiotic InfoTech has appointed Sunil Kumar as their new
chief executive officer. Sunil will be a part of the senior management and will
be responsible for building the Symbiotic brand globally. He will also be
closely involved in developing and implementing company strategies including
taking new products and solutions to market, making business plan, understanding
the market and competitors, and other HR activities.
Krakovsky Joins SuccessFactors
SuccessFactors, an on-demand performance and talent management solutions company
has named former Yahoo! executive Dmitri Krakovsky as vice president of product
management. Krakovsky joins SuccessFactors from Yahoo!, where he was recently
vice president of business and marketplace operations, and sponsored search.
Previously, Krakovsky held positions of vice president for Yahoo!s advertiser
and publisher group and small business services. Before joining Yahoo! in 2005,
Krakovsky spent five years at Intuit where he led the product management team
for small-business accounting software, QuickBooks.
Aztecsoft CEO, COO Resign
 
Aztecsoft, a provider of global software engineering services and a MindTree
company, has announced that its chief executive officer Samir Bodas, has
resigned from the company. Bodas is also relieved from his official duties as
director. Srinivasan Chandrasekar, chief operating officer, Aztecsoft, has also
resigned from the company. Before joining Aztecsoft, Chandrasekar was the senior
vice president of products at SumTotal Systems, where he was responsible for
integrating diverse product suites of Click2learn and Docent.
Yamada is CEO for Toshiba America
Toshiba
America Business Solutions have appointed Masahiro Yamada as their new chairman
and chief executive officer. Yamada will be responsible for the overall
management of the company in close partnership with Mark Mathews, president and
chief operating officer, TABS. Yamadas specific focus will be on the
development and deployment of business policy and strategy, supporting the
coordination of all aspects of TABS relationship with Toshiba TEC in Tokyo.
Britney Beats Obama
American
pop icon Britney Jean Spears has topped this years Yahoo! list of UKs 10 most
searched-for subjects. The search list shows that despite passing through a
turbulent phase and legal hassles, the star value of Britney is as intact as
ever. Be it her troubled private life, which involved a child custody battle
with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline stays in rehabilitation centers, trouble
with the law, confrontations with the paparazzi, or the sensational new album,
the netizens are keen about every moment of her life. Britney had topped the
list last year too, for a wrong reason though. While World Wrestling
Entertainment has come second, Obama is third in the list. However, he is the
most searched-for politician during 2008.
Breyer on Dell Board
Dell
has appointed James W Breyer to its board of directors. In accordance with the
companys Certificate of Incorporation and Bylaws, Dell increased the size of
the board from eleven to twelve, effective April 9, 2009. Breyer will serve on
the board until the next annual meeting of stockholders, scheduled for July 17,
2009, at which time his continued service will be subject to renomination and
stockholder approval.
InterGlobe Appoints Michael Whitaker
InterGlobe
Enterprises has appointed Michael Whitaker as group chief executive Ooficerof
its travel, technology and general aviation services. Whitaker, 47, joins
InterGlobe from United Airlines in Chicago, where he currently serves as senior
vice president, alliances, international and regulatory affairs and for the past
fifteen years, has led the global expansion of Uniteds international route and
alliance network.
Monster Names Sanjay Modi as MD
Monster,
a provider in online careers and recruitment resource, has announced the
appointment of Sanjay Modi as managing director for India, the Middle East and
South East Asia. Prior to this assignment, Modi was the companys head of sales,
India. Before joining Monster in 2001, Modi served at Indiaconstruction.com as
the general manager of operations, and in business roles at NIIT and Ingersoll
Rand India.
Russakow Joins Yahoo

Yahoo! has appointed Jeff Russakow as senior vice president of customer
advocacy. Russakow will have global responsibility for all of Yahoo!s customer
support functions, including audience, small business, ad operations and search
network quality. Russakow will report to Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz.

Oprah on Twitter
Oprah Winfrey, one of the worlds most powerful celebrities, has faced a web
backlash after becoming the latest star to join Twitter. The American talk show
host sent her first tweet on April 17 and has already amassed more than
350,000 followers. But users of the microblogging community have blamed her
popularity for causing the site to slow down. Some estimates suggest hundreds of
thousands new users may have joined Twitter after Winfrey promoted it on her TV
show.
McCartney Lambasts Pirate Bay
Singer Paul McCartney has voiced his support for the verdict rendered in The
Pirate Bay trial, where four men have been charged for copyright infringement. A
court in Stockholm sentenced each to a year in jail and fined the group the
equivalent of $3.6 mn. On Thepiratebay.org, a blog post indicated that the men
have filed an appeal. Fans of The Pirate Bay have condemned the verdict as many
in the entertainment industry celebrated the decision.

Blairs Facebook Hacked

Former British Prime Minister, Tony Blairs profile on the popular social
networking site Facebook has been hacked by netizens who have hurled online
abuses at him and his wife Cherie. Users have launched personal attacks on his
Facebook profile, set up to promote The Tony Blair Faith Foundation. The charity
can be accessed on Facebook via a link from the charitys official website and
is meant to promote understanding of the worlds religions. But, it is instead
dominated by abusive messages against Blairs.
Dhir Quits AOL
The AOL India managing director and international executive vice president
in Asia, Europe and the Americas, Maneesh Dhir, has put in his papers and is
likely to pursue an entrepreneurial career. Dhir, who was with AOL for almost
ten years, had played a key role in establishing and launching AOLs operations
in Bangalore. AOL currently runs an India-specific portal from Bangalore, where
it also has a technology center and analytics operations employing close to
1,000 people.
DeWolfe Quits MySpace
MySpace co-founder Chris DeWolfe is stepping down as chief executive of the
company before the end of his contract. Parent company News Corp said DeWolfe
was leaving by mutual consent. Nonetheless, his exit comes as the media giants
newly installed chief digital officer, Jon Miller, undertook an evaluation of
MySpace and concluded that it was time to bring in new management to oversee the
social network.
Visa Appoints Uttam Nayak
Visa
announced that Uttam Nayak has been appointed as the country manager for South
Asia. In his new role, Uttam will be responsible for building Visas brand and
business in south Asia which includes India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal,
with a focus toward building client relationships, growing business volumes and
sales of Visa branded products and services. Nayak was previously the country
manager of India. He succeeds Santanu Mukherjee, who was recently appointed
Visas regional head of innovation and technology and is now based in Singapore.
Satyen Parikh Joins F5 Networks
F5 Networks, the global leader in application delivery networking, has
announced the appointment of Satyen H Parikh as managing director, for the newly
established India and SAARC region.
The establishment of the new region follows significant achievement in the
Indian market with new wins in ITES and BFSI markets building on an established
presence in manufacturing, telecommunications and automotive industries.
Nilekani to Speak at Yale University

Nilekani, co-chairman Infosys Technologies, will address Yale University on May
1, 2009. Nilekanis talk, India at the Crossroads: The Road Ahead, is hosted
by the South Asian Society, the South Asian Business Forum of the Yale School of
Management, the Yale Center for the Study of Globalization, and the South Asian
Studies Council at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and
