Deorukhkar Wins Gold
Yahoo! India has announced a grand prize winner for UnCannies, the
platform to showcase the best advertising work in print, outdoor, radio, online
and broadcast media. Deepti Deorukhkar of Public Ambience, Mumbai, won the Gold
at UnCannies for her Back Seat Quickie campaign for Cupid Condoms. UnCannies
also picked three silver prize winners, who were awarded Apple iPhone each.
Nakajima Quits NEC
Toshio Nakajima is stepping down as president and CEO of NEC Electronics
amidst ongoing losses, sagging sales and a proposed merger with Renesas
Technology. Nakajima will be replaced by Junshi Yamaguchi, executive vice
president and member of the board.
Watchdata Gets Pan
Watchdata, a smart card solution provider, has appointed Jack Pan as its
vice president of international business development and marketing. Pan will be
responsible for creating and promoting a business model for SIMpass, a developed
mobile payment solution that can be readily deployed around the world.
Pushkar @ HDS West
Hitachi Data Systems has appointed S Pushkar as regional director for
western India. He would be responsible for the companys overall business growth
and would lead the enterprise, mid-market and channel teams in the western
region.
Jadhav Joins Geometric
Geometric has appointed Priya Jadhav as its vice president of finance.
Jadhav has fifteen years of experience in the areas of financial planning,
treasury and accounting, pricing and cost productivity, and will be in-charge of
the finance function at Geometric.
Sarma is Trai Chairman
Dr JS Sarma has been appointed as the chairman of the Telecom Regulatory
Authority of India. Sarma succeeds former Trai chairman Nripendra Mishra. An IAS
officer of 1971 batch, Sarma is a member of the TDSAT, and was earlier the DoT
secretary and the Telecom Commission chairman.

Sockington, a cat on Twitter has become an instant celebrity with over half
a million followers. The group following this cat is called the sock army. The

Yahoo! Appoints Tadanki
Yahoo! India has appointed Arun Tadanki as managing director with the
mandate for expanding and consolidating business also in sub continental Asia,
the Middle East, and Africa. In his new role, Tadanki will be based out of Delhi
and report to Keith Nilsson, senior vice president, emerging markets.
Raman to Spearhead TVS
SS Raman, director, TVS Electronics has been appointed as the whole-time
director and CEO, TVS-Electronics, and managing director for the recently formed
TVS-e Servicetec. The company expects Raman to add greater value to both the
businesses.
Vertex Appoints Gaur
Vertex has appointed Keshav Gaur as CEO India and as a member of Vertex main
management board. Gaur will lead the business in India. Gaur was earlier country
head, Fidelity Business Services India with the responsibility of managing the
captive center of FIL, UK.
Premji Takes Salary Cut
Azim Premji, the chairman of Wipro Technologies, decided to set an example
with his salary cut of 10%. According to Wipros SEC filing, Premji was paid
$84,729 as salary and allowances in 2008-09, down from $107,701 in the previous
fiscal. Besides, he also got a lower amount of $105,710 as
commission/incentives, compared to $127,621 in 2007-08. However, top executive
directors have been given a hike.
CSC Appoints Chopra
CSC has announced the appointment of Vivek Chopra as president of its India
operations. He will be responsible for managing CSCs sourcing capabilities from
India and other delivery centers. In addition, Krishnaswamy Subrahmaniam has
been named managing director of CSCs India operations.

Structured cabling solutions provider, DIGILINK has appointed Kerman Rana as
VP, sales and marketing. Rana comes in with twenty-three years of experience in
sales, marketing, and establishing and developing new businesses with multiple
companies including Philips, Viewsonic, Priya, etc.
Talukdar is Fujitsu CEO
Fujitsu India has appointed Pallab Talukdar as the chief executive officer
for its India operations. Prior to this Talukdar was director, enterprise
business with Dell. An alumni of IIT-Kharagpur and IIM-Calcutta, Talukdar has
played a critical role in different organizations in the IT industry, during the
last twenty-two years.
Emerson Promotes Kumar
Emerson Network Power has elevated Ankesh Kumar as senior manager, channel
products (India). Prior to this, Kumar headed the marketing and communications
function for Emerson Network Power in India. In his new role, Kumar will be
responsible for product management and marketing of the Liebert small and micro
UPS product line in India.
