Dalal Joins Avaya

Jangoo Dalal, an industry veteran has joined Avaya GlobalConnect to head its
India operations. Prior to this, Dalal worked with D-Link as MD and CEO and with
Cisco for more than ten years.
Nilekani to Head UIDAI

Nandan M Nilekani, will give up the position of co-chairman and member of the
board at Infosys, to take charge as the chairperson of the Unique Identification
Authority of India (UIDAI), project to provide every Indian with a unique
identity card. Nilekani will have the rank of a Cabinet Minister.
Raghavan is Magma MD
Magma appointed Vivek Raghavan as the managing director of its India
operations. Raghavan would report to Roy E Jewell, Magma president and CEO, and
also continue with his current responsibility as vice president of Magmas
custom design business unit, managing development of physical verification
products.
Premji Bags Global Vision Award

Azim Premji, chairman, Wipro, was awarded the US-India Business Councils (USIBC)
34th Anniversary Global Vision Award for his work furthering India-US
relations through commercial partnership. USIBC will also make a donation to
Operation Smile, in the name of Azim Premji.

The Mahindra Group has appointed Sanjay Kalra as Tech Mahindras CEO and CP
Gurnani as Mahindra Satyams CEO. Their appointments are believed to help the
respective companies leverage their global experience across verticals. In
addition, Vineet Nayyar, CEO and MD, Tech Mahindra, is tipped to be the vice
chairman of both the companies.
Soman in Patni Leadership

Patni Computer Systems has appointed Manish Soman as executive vice president
and chief of operations. He would be responsible for driving the companys key
operations including sales, technology, business continuity, and resource
planning. Soman would focus on streamlining Patnis long-term goals of vertical
growth by increasing competitiveness and improving customer experience.
Sonata Appoints Finance Head
Sonata Software has appointed N Venkatraman as the head, strategic finance
and risk management. Venkatraman, would look after various aspects of risk
management and control functions, including valuations and deal structuring for
M&As, financial information systems, and legal and regulatory functions at
Sonata.

Son of Cuban leader Fidel Castro, Antonio Castro got cheated in a cyber
space chatroom. The lady who enamored Castro junior was a Cuban exile blogger
from Miami, named Luis Dominguez, who was disguised as Claudia, a
twenty-seven-year-old Colombian sports journalist. The blogger who apparently
used female Internet alter ego to gain access to a member of the usually
impervious family of Fidel Castro to expose the opulent lifestyles of the
Castros.
Dynalog Founder Wins Election

Shivaji Adhalrao Patil, founder of Dynalog (India)won the recent Lok Sabha
elections on a Shiv Sena ticket. Patil founded Dynalog in1978, which now has
both national and international recognition. The MP from the Khed district of
Maharashtra has won many awards like First Generation Entrepreneur, Best
Industrialist Award from Small Scale Sector, etc.
Evans on Cognizant Board

Cognizant has included Maureen Breakiron-Evans to its board of directors.
She will work for the companys audit committee. The Cognizant board now
consists of eight directors, six of whom are independent under NASDAQs rules.
Mynampati Quits Satyam
Ram Mynampati, the former Satyam executive director and an interim
spokesperson of the company has put in his papers. He has been replaced by
Keshab Panda as the head of the healthcare vertical. Mynampati was the interim
CEO of Satyam after Rajus infamous confession.
Change of Guard at C-DAC

Rajan Joseph, executive director at Thiruvananthapuram C-DAC has taken charge as
director general of C-DAC. He replaces S Ramakrishnan, who is known for his
action-packed association with C-DAC. Fondly known as Ramki, Ramakrishnan is
credited for institution building as one of his major contributions.
Murthy Advocates Two-Party System

Expressing happiness over the stable government coming to power, NR Narayana
Murthy, chairman, Infosys, said that a two-party system is good for India.
According to him inclusive growth is the need of the country at this point of
time so that all sectors can benefit more.
Polaris Names New President and COO
Polaris Software Lab, a provider in IT services, named Govind Singhal as the
chief operating officer of global delivery and operations, and Karthik Kaushik
as president, global sales and account management. Before this, they held
various positions in the company and are key members of the management
committee. This move comes in line with the resignation of former COO and
executive director, Arun Gupta.
Former Motorola CEO Joins NetSuite Board

Edward Zander has been appointed by NetSuite, a vendor of integrated
business management software suites to its board of directors. Zander was most
recently the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Motorola. In
addition to his board service, he will also serve on the compensation committee
and the nominating and governance committee of the board .
Dent Joins 1st Touch

Enterprise mobile technology group 1st Touch has appointed Robert Dent as
CEO. Dent joins 1st Touch from Achiever Business Solutions, a Sword Group
company. As CEO and a shareholder of Achiever, Dent had been responsible for the
companys sale to Sword in 2006. Prior to the sale, Dent had taken Achiever from
being a niche UK compliance systems company to become, according to both Gartner
and Forrester.
Hillary on US-India 3.0

Secretary of State, Hillary Clintons statement about US-India 3.0 is an
indication of the strengthening of a tie-up, which also implies that the IT
sector will have a key role to play in the Indo-US business relations. While
speaking before the US-India Business Council, Clinton said the US-India
relations, which are at the beginning of the third era, need an upgrade.
Juniper Hires Executive VP
Juniper Networks, a provider in high-performance networking, hasappointed
Gerri Elliott as executive vice president of strategic alliances. She would have
the responsibility for forging and fostering Junipers strategic alliances
globally. Elliott would report directly to chief executive officer Kevin
Johnson.
Nivio Appoints Colebourne
Nivio, an online computing utility has appointed Matthew Colebourne as its COO.
In his current global role, Matthew will be responsible for expanding the areas
of operation for the company as part of its plans to launch Nivio services in
countries including the US, UK, Australia, Belgium, and parts of Latin America
over the next year.
