Ramji Leaves Microsoft

Open Source Guru, Sam Ramji, the senior director of platform strategy of
Microsoft, has announced to quit Microsoft and join a cloud computing start-up,
CodePlex Foundation. CodePlex is a developer community infrastructure hosted by
Microsoft on behalf of open source developers.
Mindteck Names New CFO

Mindteck, a provider of IT services, has announced the appointment of Suresh Rao
as group chief financial officer. In his new role, Rao would head the budgeting,
financial reporting, accounting, and audits at global level for the company. He
would also be in-charge of overall operation of Mindtecks offices in India. Rao
comes with twenty-one years of experience, and his strengths are corporate
finance, global accounting and forming strategies for overall growth of
businesses.
HCL Security Hires New CEO

HCL Security, a subsidiary of HCL Infosystems, has announced the appointment of
Rothin Bhattacharyya as its new chief executive officer. Bhattacharyya a senior
business leader, with over twenty-four years of management experience, is a
thought leader in technology and services sector.
He has worked with Siemens and KPMG in his prior assignments.
Hitchcock Joins Symphony as VP
Symphony Services has announced the appointment of John Hitchcock as VP,
marketing. Hitchcock would be responsible for expanding the companys brand,
driving marketing and communications strategy. Earlier, he held marketing
leadership roles at product engineering services company GlobalLogic, and
ClearCube Technology.
Capgemini Names VP for North America

Capgemini, a provider of IT and BPO services, has announced the appointment of
Douglas Charles as vice president of market development and sales officer for
its technology services division in North America. Charles would develop and
lead the business units market development and sales strategy.
Charles has earlier worked for Capgemini, and most recently worked for SAIC
as general manager of the commercial business unit.
Animated Aamir and SRK
 
Mumbai based Pixions TVC wing has recently delivered two separate
commercials, one for Coke featuring Aamir Khan, and another for Videocon with
Shahrukh Khan. The fifty-five second TVC for Coca Cola features 3D animated
Aamir Khan in a game character avatar while the forty-five second commercial of
Videocon flaunts particle effects around Shahrukh Khan.
KPMG Appoints IT Head

KPMGs global head of sourcing advisory has been appointed as the national
head of IT advisory in India. Kumar Parakala shall hold this dual charge and
will now be based in India. He is a member of the executive council and Board
for the IT advisory business of KPMG globally that represents over 400 partners
and 7,000 staff.
SenGupta Joins Globsyn

Globsyn Group has roped in Utpal SenGupta, formerly of Unilever and ConAgra, as
the group management advisor and member governing council for Globsyn Business
School. Close on the heels of the appointment of ex-SEBI director, Pratip Kar,
the presence of SenGupta at the Globsyn Group will help in engaging itself in a
new growth path. Earlier, SenGupta worked for the consumer products giant,
Unilever, in India and abroad for twenty-four years.
Creative Appoints Ernest Sim
Creative Technology has announced the appointment of Ernest Sim as regional
sales manager for its Indian subcontinent operations. In his new role, Sim will
spearhead the overall sales function, along with handling the marketing role for
India. Sim joined Creative in 2002 as product marketing engineer of PC
peripherals, and was later posted in the USA as product manager.
Ex-Samsung Chairman Pays Fine

Lee, a former head of South Koreas biggest group, Samsung, has paid a fine
of more than 110 bn won in a single installment. Last month, Lee was given a
three-year prison term, suspended for five years, and ordered to pay the fine
for masterminding illegal bond transactions between his children and a Samsung
subsidiary, Samsung SDS. The exercise was aimed at transferring management
control of the group to his only son, Lee Jae-Yong.
Skype Founders Sue eBay

The founders of Skype, Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, have sued eBay and
an investor group that agreed to buy the Webphone service, accusing them of
copyright violation and potentially disrupting the $1.9 bn deal. The lawsuit
brought by a Swedish firm, Joltid, seeks a permanent injunction against Skype
and damages. However, eBay has denied the allegations.
Rao Wins Award
Dr Mukund Rao, president and COO of NIIT GIS, has been honored with the
National Geo-Spatial Excellence Award by the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS).
This is in acknowledgment of Dr Raos extensive contributions to the Indian
community in remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS). NIIT GIS
has been at the forefront of GIS in India, and offers a wide range of GIS
solutions based on ESRI technology worldwide to help governments and public
undertakings leverage GIS.
CSS Ropes In New CEO

Chennai based Cybernet-SlashSupport (CSS) has appointed Sreenidhi Sharma,
better known in the industry as Nick Sharma, as the new CEO. In his previous
engagement, Nick headed the infrastructure management services (IMS) business at
Satyam and was an executive member of the organizations Leadership Council
providing strategic direction and was accountable for all client relationships,
sales and marketing, delivery and operations of the firm in the infrastructure
services space.
Chrapaty Quits Microsoft

Debra Chrapaty, vice president of global foundation services, Microsofts
data center operations, is leaving the company for a product role at Cisco.
Chrapaty is among the top executives of Microsoftjust fourteen of the companys
131 top executives are women. Before joining Microsoft, she worked at ETrade,
AllBusiness, and the National Basketball Association, where she served as chief
technology officer.
Fired for Adult Chat Room Visit
A former employee with the IBM, who was fired for visiting an adult chat
room while at work, is appealing a court decision against him. The
sixty-year-old James Pacenza has claimed that combat stress from Vietnam made
him a sex-and-Internet addict who should have been treated, not dismissed.
Ambastha VMware Director

Shrimathi Ambastha Seema has joined VMware India as director of technology. In
her new role, she is responsible for VMwares pre-sales operations in India.
Seema brings more than nearly two decades of IT industry experience in support
and pre-sales in India and APAC. Prior, she worked with Oracle Asia Pacific as
director of technology and business intelligence & warehouse solutions, leading
a team of architects supporting large and strategic sales engagements in India
and APAC.
Nielsen India Appoints Ranade
The Nielsen Company, India has announced the appointment of Sandeep Ranade
as director, client solutions, consumer research. He will be based out of Mumbai
and will focus on partnering with consumer packaged goods (CPG) clients. Ranade
brings with him fourteen years of experience in market research and media
planning. Prior to joining Nielsen, he was associated with Heinz India as senior
manager, market research & media planning. Over the last decade, Ranade has been
associated with Subhiksha Trading Services, TNS India, among others.
Nadar is Business Person of the Year
The UK Trade & Investment has conferred Shiv Nadar, founder, HCL and
chairman & chief strategy officer, HCL Technologies with the prestigious
Business Person of the Year Award for 2009. The award was presented by the UK
Minister for Trade, Investment & Business, Lord Mervyn Davies in the presence of
the British High Commissioner in India, Richard Stagg. The award is for Nadars
direction in establishing HCL as a leading global technology player.
