Sanjay is Director of CSP
CA, a leading independent IT management software company, has announced the appointment of IT and telecoms veteran, Ratan Sanjay as the director for communications service providers (CSP), covering India and SAARC countries. Sanjay will formulate and execute a go-to-market strategy to address the rapidly-growing telecoms and the CSP industry. At the same time, he will develop solutions by tapping the considerable expertise held by CAs relationships with premier systems integrators.

Dr Radhakrishnan is New ISRO Chief
Dr K Radhakrishnan has been appointed as the new chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). He succeeds G Madhavan Nair, who is retiring from ISRO at the end of October 2009. Dr Nair, who took over as ISRO chairman in 2003, has twenty-five successful missions so far.

Carl Icahn Exits Yahoo! Board
Billionaire investor Carl Icahn has resigned from the Board of Internet giant Yahoo!, as reported by the BBC. Icahn said he thought the company no longer needed an activist investor as a director, and his attention was now focused on other matters. In a letter to the Board, Icahn also praised the work of Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz and said the search deal Yahoo! struck with Microsoft would provide great long-term benefits, the potential of which many still do not understand.

SafeNet Hires New CFO
Charles J Neral has joined SafeNet as senior vice president and CFO. Neral served as the vice president of finance for IBMs $22 bn software business. In this role, he was responsible for global financial planning, analysis, business controls, and business development, and helped lead significant organic and acquisitive growth for IBM. Prior to this, Neral served in a variety of positions across IBMs sales, server and global services organizations, including executive roles in Asia Pacific and IBM corporate headquarters.

Nandakumar Joins Kaseya
Kaseya, provider in IT automation software services, has announced the appointment of Nandakumar as the vice president of sales for its India operations. Nandakumar would be based at Kaseyas headquarters in Bengaluru. Nandakumar has over eighteen years of experience, out of which fifteen years are in IT product distribution, managing around 1,800 channel partners in western and southern region for Redington India.

Mahindra Satyam Appoints Gupta
Mahindra Satyam has announced the appointment of Bobby Gupta, head, sales and new business development in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). For the last ten years, Gupta has worked with IBM in the software group and global business services, and most recently with IBMs global technology services, where Gupta was running the telecom expenses management practice as AP sales leader. He has essayed diverse roles in the Australian and Asia Pacific IT services market in business development and sales leadership positions.

AMD Appoints Seifert
AMD has appointed Thomas Seifert as its senior VP and CFO. Seifert joined AMD in 2009 and has an expertise of global operations and financial management. Seifert served as COO and member of the Management Board of Qimonda AG since 2006 and its CFO since 2008.

SCO Group Fires CEO
UNIX software technology provider, SCO Group has fired its CEO and president, Darl McBride. The decision to terminate McBride is part of the companys restructuring plan that is based on recommendations made by the Chapter 11 trustee, Edward Cahn. According to the companys SEC filing, the current management team comprising COO Jeff Hunsaker, CFO Ken Nielsen, and general counsel Ryan Tibbitts will continue to work closely with Cahn and his advisors to implement the restructuring plan and emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

SAP Appoints Watts
SAP Asia Pacific Japan has appointed Stephen Watts, COO, SAP Asia Pacific Japan, as interim president, SAP India. This follows the tragic loss of Ranjan Das, president, SAP India. Watts has worked closely with Das and his leadership team since 2007.

RIP Saran
PS Saran, the former HoD of Telecom Services, who passed away on October 22, 2009, was one of the most distinguished public servants of India. The only Indian Telecom Services (ITS) officer to be awarded Padmashri by the President of India, Saran served the Department of Telecom in various capacities, in almost all areas of its functioning. Among other posts, he served as the chief general manager of Orissa circle and member services in undivided Telecom Commission.

Mahindra Satyam appoints Vadrevu as Chief Strategy Officer
Mahindra Satyam, the brand identity of Satyam Computer Services, has announced a key appointment of Vijayanand Vadrevu as the senior VP, strategic initiatives of the company. Vijay has a vast experience in IT services industry with more than seventeen years with Wipro Technologies. For the last three years, he was working as VP and head for life sciences vertical solutions, responsible for strategy, sales and delivery, and was instrumental in shaping it as one of the fastest growing verticals.
