MS to Buy aQuantive
Microsoft has said that it would buy online advertising company aQuantive for
$6 bn. It is Microsoft's largest acquisition ever, and the latest in a flurry of
deals for online advertising firms by big Internet and media companies.
Calsoft's Stake in Aspire
California Software Co (Calsoft) is acquiring 51% equity in Aspire
Communications, possibly through a combination of cash and stock. Through this
acquisition, Calsoft will be able to combine its product engineering services
capabilities and Aspire's hardware design expertise.
Oracle Buys Agile Soft
Oracle has bought Agile Software for $495 mn. After the latest allcash
purchase closes in July, Oracle will have to spent more than $25 bn snapping up
smaller software makers since 2004 in an audacious challenge to Germany's SAP
AG, the leading provider of business applications.
L&T Finance Picks Nucleus
L&T Finance, a non-banking finance company, has selected Nucleus Software's
flagship solution-FinnOne TM Customer Acquisition System-for implementation at
its central office in Mumbai with a roll out across 60-plus locations. The
solution will allow L&T Finance anytime, anywhere access.
Infotech's Stake in Integra
As part of its strategy to tap geospatial business, Infotech Enterprises has
acquired a majority stake in the Hyderabad-based Geospatial Integrated Solution
(Geospace Integra) for an undisclosed sum. Infotech and Geospace Integra would
consolidate their geospatial business in India and West Asia into a single
entity.
WNS Aquires Marketics
WNS (Holdings) has closed its acquisition of Marketics Technologies (India),
an offshore analytics services company to enhance its capabilities. The total
consideration consists of a bulk payment of $30 mn at closing and a contingent
earn-out of up to a maximum of $35 mn.
Alcatel-Lucent Buys ND
Alcatel-Lucent has acquired the Bangalore-based privately-held NetDevices
(ND), a developer of services gateway products for enterprise branch networks,
for an undisclosed sum. NetDevices delivers enterprise networking platform known
as a Unified Service Gateway.
Core to Buy Three Firms
IT solutions firm Core Projects and Technologies is close to snapping up
three companies, one in the US and two in the UK, and has earmarked a corpus of
$60 mn for the takeovers. The Mumbai-based company was scouting for acquisitions
in education and enterprise resource planning (ERP) verticals.
InterSystems Acquires Trakhealth
InterSystems has acquired Australia-based Trakhealth. An application partner
of InterSystems since 1991, Trakhealth develops and markets Trackcare, an
enterprise-level Web-based health information system deployed in twenty-five
countries.
BO to Acquire Inxight
Business Objects (BO) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire
Sunnyvale-based Inxight Software, provider of software solutions for
unstructured information discovery. The merger would provide organizations with
