Nurturing Big Dreams

| Rajendra Paradkar,
IT Manager, The Bombay Store |
The Bombay Store is known for promoting traditional Indian designs and is
still a landmark destination in South Mumbai.
Rajendra Paradkar has recently revamped the stores ERP solution called MRMS
(Microsoft Retail Management Software), which was being used for store
management across all its outlets.
But the Bombay Store was working on a customized version of the software
which was creating a lot of errors in bar coding of items. Identifying this
problem, Paradkar took the decision to revamp the application by migrating it to
an extended 360 degree version of the MRMS software which has helped in
enhancing the accuracy of stock positions and inventory management.
Earlier, the store worked according to a consignment concept, where
everything was tracked and coded on the basis of batches and purchase orders.
Now it is able to do it at a more itemized level after having gone out of the
box. Though the solution does not have the capacity to bring all the stores onto
one platform and conduct real-time sharing of data, Paradkar hopes to see that
happen one day.
Going forward, he also plans to give Bombay Store an online presence.
