LinkedIn, the California-based professional networking site is closely
assessing the business opportunities in India.
According to LinkedIns vice president of products, Dipchand Nishar, the
company is seeing tremendous growth in the Indian market, which is one of the
fastest growing markets in the world.
So we are here to understand what our users are doing, how we can serve the
advertisers better. We are talking to corporates so that we can serve them
better. We are very bullish on this market and we are investing a lot here, so
thats the plan, Nishar says.

We are looking to have our team on the ground. I and the company have firm
commitments to hire the best and the brightest talents in the world. We will
have a country manger and will continue to invest in the country. Once we find
the right kind of people, who have passion and vision for LinkedIn, we will
start hiring, says Nishar.
Since LinkedIns inception in 2003, its popularity has increased tremendously
world over. Presently, LinkedIn has over 48 mn members globally, while in India
it has about 3 mn members. Among such high user base, about 46 % are decision
makers. The networking site has grown at a healthy rate of 180 % each year
compared to the previous year.
With a strength of 400 people, LinkedIn has staff from all parts of the
world. In terms of software development centers in India, Nishar hinted that the
company is keeping its options open for future opportunities.
We have Indians in our team, so we continue to be very passionate about this
market, whether we live there or not. We want to hire the best people who can
cater to humongous opportunities here, which is one of the fastest growing
markets in the world. However, theres no time limit, explains Nishar.
LinkedIn, a privatecompany located at Mountain View in California, has
diversified revenue streams. According to Nishar, the three diversified revenue
streams are advertising, revenues from corporates to source high-end talents,
and subscription of software solutions.
We sell special solutions to corporates as software-as-a-service (SaaS)
package to enable them to source not just jobs but also source high-end
candidates for their jobs, he adds. Nishar pointed out that all the three
businesses are very robust in nature, where none of these is so dominant that
the other two are overshadowed by it.
Diversity of business revenues is very important, considering we are an
internet company, Nishar says.
