The Snakes and Ladders game is taking the mroute. Popularly called
Saanp-Seedhi, the exciting traditional Indian board game, popular among young
and old alike, is now turning out to be a major hit on the iPhone and iTouch.
The hi-tech version of the game has been developed by Thiruvananthapuram
Technopark based Travancore Analytics, which is into development of software in
the areas of imaging technology and image processing. The new version has turned
out to be one among the most favorite free downloads at Apple stores.
According to a company official, the game has managed as many as 2,50,000
downloads in the past week alone, which is the highest for an iPhone application
developed by any Indian software company. More than 70% of downloads have been
from Canada, the UK, and the US.
The free version of the game allows user to be one of the players, while
iPhone itself takes the role of the second player. At present, the snakes and
ladders application occupies the numero uno position in twelve applications
stores worldwide, the official adds.
