The best thing about the HR function at Aditya Birla Minacs is that even as
the BPO outfit grows at a fairly brisk pace, the focus is very much on the
individual. And that is quite the reason why the company finds itself in the top
echelon of Indias BPO employers.
Why employees really liked Minacs was mainly because of the appreciation they
received at the workplace. This has been achieved over a period of time through
things like automation or the increase in rating levels from 1 to 7, so that the
team can be classified in a more efficient manner.

The company also offers a comprehensive list of learning and training options
to its employees. The results are there for all to see. In the last fiscal,
there was a 44% increase in training man-hours and the company added 20 new
internal programs to the list. There was also the introduction of a monthly
talent development report card that is strategically shared. But then all is not
hunky dory for Minacs. The company is under tremendous pressure to grow, and
there seems to be some sort of resentment against the salary appraisals.
Employees have also cribbed that special initiatives are overlooked at the time
of assessment.
