After music and movies on mobile, the content space is set for a major overhaul. EnableM ties up with IMS to offer MBA preparation material on the mobile. Amit Zaveri, COO, EnableM talks about the service.

What are the service offerings from EnableM after tying up with IMS?
EnableM and IMS have come together to create a large base of educational and infotainment content required by B-School aspirants, adapted to the mobile. The service offering will include test preparation guides, self-enhancement and grooming advice, counseling and 'live' help options. It will also have multiple community options to connect students across the globe.

What's the technology behind it?
The idea has been to create value and offer meaningful service. In this context, we have decided to make the service available across different mediums irrespective of the handset students carry. The content matter, thus, is available across SMS, wherein both pull and pushed-based services will be made available along with analysis/scores. The voice feature will be hosted with operator portals and used effectively to provide preparation material for interview and group discussion as well. The applications will be largely written in JAVA (J2ME), which would be carried along with tools and utilities for users. Most of the content will be soon made available on a WAP/website from where students can subscribe and start accessing the material.

When are you planning to launch this on a pan-India level?
There are a lot of things that go into launching a pan-India service-logistics, operator tie-ups, on ground initiatives, promotions etc. We are doing all this and more to get the service live by mid-May. In the initial phase, we hope to cover over 75 IMS centers across cities and there on, bring innovation to the marketing process by tie-ups and various other ground events. We are hoping for operator rollouts in another month or so, after which we intend to launch the social networking segment. By June, we are hoping we would cover these two broad areas, and then decide on a global push.

Social networking is a very broad term. Our idea is to connect students on a community platform in relation to their examination preparations

Are you also in touch with other operators?
We are in touch with multiple operators to take the initiative live.A lot is being finalized and formats decided. It would be launched with at least two to three operators initially. The operator initiative is also to cover a huge cross section of people who are not currently in the net, as well as a large base of users who are.

What will be the revenue model in the tie-up?
Revenues will accrue from multiple sources over a period of time. The current model allows us to market the application through operators on subscription, direct-to-user models and multiple other ways (aggregator tie-ups/global partnerships, etc). The idea is to establish the zones first and a lot of investment is required to set it up across the country and elsewhere. Between the partners, responsibilities have been worked out to take things further quickly.

How will you retain users after the entrance exams are over?
The process is a continuous one-old students go and new take their place. However, we are quite positive that we will be able to also retain students who have taken up the zone with us.
