CMC

The Tata Group company moves up 12 places to #13 following decent overall performance. Acquired by the Tata’s during fiscal 2002, CMC reported 11% higher sales at Rs 607.99 crore and 10% higher net profit growth at Rs 37.06 crore. Gross block of CMC was 3% higher to Rs 123.46 crore whereas the ROCE declined marginally from 35.5% to 34.19%. CMC is ranked #7 in sales, #16 in profit, #22 in sales growth, #20 in profit growth, #15 in gross block, #45 in gross block growth and #8 in ROCE. CMC provides services in hardware maintenance, system integration, third-party maintenance, networking services, education and training. CMC is largely focused on the domestic market, selling its services to state government and state-owned enterprises. The Tata Group, through Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), acquired 51% stake in the state-held CMC in 2001. The Government of India currently holds 26% stake in the company.
