Aftek Infosys

The Mumbai-based company slips in the overall ranking from #22 to #27 largely due to the lack of growth in gross block. For the year ended June 2002, Aftek reported revenues of Rs 61.55 crore and a net profit of Rs 33.67 crore, up by 36% and 34% respectively over the previous year. Aftek’s gross block declined 7% to Rs 11.57 crore. The company is ranked #37 in sales, #7 in sales growth, #17 in profit, #13 in profit growth and #57 in gross block growth as well as size. Aftek’s ROCE stood at 22.43% and the company is ranked #18 in this criteria. Aftek provides software services and product development in the area of embedded software. Aftek’s major and most successful software product is Powersafe, which was gold certified by Computer Associates. Powersafe is a UPS monitoring software product, which is integrated with Computer Associates’ Unicenter-TNG. Going ahead, the company has identified knowledge management and the 3G mobile communication spaces as high potential growth areas. Towards that end, it acquired 49% stake in the Munich-based Arexera Information Technologies GmbH, a company that provides knowledge management solutions.
