After a slide for two consecutive years in the rankings, HCL Tech has reversed the fall by jumping up five places this year. The reason for the upswing: almost all employee satisfaction parameters. The only significant issue really was satisfaction on salary and compensation. Just 54% of all respondents felt they were paid enough for the work they did and less than 40% of the employees said their salary structures were tax efficient or that they were paid according to industry standards.
In a year that the HCL-T increased headcount by 41%, attrition rates rose from 9% to 15% and retention fell from 91% to 84%. Interestingly, however, 90% of its employees said that they would not leave for a 20% hike in salary. Some of this stems from the fact that the levels of employee satisfaction with respect to job content and job security are quite high and there has been a marked reduction in stress levels at the company.
