DATACRAFT INDIA: Loyalty, Despite All

This is the smallest company in the BES rankings with 304 people. However, Datacraft increased employee strength by 96% last year, as a result of which employee satisfaction plummeted on all parameters.

The big issues seem to center around infrastructure, communication, policies and procedures, fair treatment of employees, slow responsiveness to employee issues and of course, salaries and appraisals. As a result, the company has higher than average attrition at 20% and a significantly low retention at 69%. That Datacraft makes it to the top 20 despite its size is a commendable feat. But that it ranks 18th or below on seven of the eight satisfaction parameters is a cause for concern. Traditionally, smaller companies have fewer issues maintaining a certain uniform and balanced work culture.

The good news-employees are still equally excited by the technology, fewer people are stressed and at the end of the day, only 9% said they would leave the company for a 20% hike in salary (down from 17% the year before).
