NOT ONLY is GE Capital International Services (GECIS) the leader in offshoring to India, it is also the most versatile in terms of processes handled, with what it calls its nine centers of excellence (CoE). These centers-one each for finance and accounting, insurance, collections, customer fulfillment, commercial finance, industrial and equipment, analytics, learning, IT services, and software-together handle more than 450 processes to 30 different business units in the US, Europe, Japan and Australia. Processes include ERP, database consulting, IT help desks, knowledge services, software solutions, analytics, data mining and modeling, e-learning and customer contact centers. GE wanted to increase its focus on core areas by selling a part of its operations and even invited bids from interested buyers. There has been no announcement on that, reportedly because of a valuation mismatch. The company has eight sites in India spread across four cities-Gurgaon (4), Bangalore (1), Hyderabad (2), and Jaipur (1).
The Jaipur site became operational last year. It has also done its due diligence to set up another center in
Kolkata.
