Convergys: Stands Out in the Crowd
The only US call center company to bet so big on India, Convergys is a case study in growth

An important event for Convergys was the IBM buyout of Daksh. The obvious question has an obvious answer. Convergys has a five-year contract to man the customer 
support help desk for IBM. This may now come under threat as Daksh too has an expertise in the area and IBM would definitely like to shift the process to Daksh, as control would be easier.  

And during the last year, Convergys has more than strengthened its focus on India. It is not just low cost that has spurred Convergys India in expansion mode. The quality of work generated from India has been superior to other centers. For instance, since August 2002, when the India center participated in the customer acquisition program of a particular client, the conversion rate has been higher than any other center for 10 consecutive months. While the target conversion rate was 28%, the India center exceeded it (at 29.6%). So, it is not without reason that the Convergys facility in Gurgaon is its largest anywhere in the world and it became the third largest BPO employer in the country after GE and Wipro-Spectramind.
