The complete integration of Compaq's different units worldwide and the increased flow of financial services from the merged entity helped HP e-Business grow its internal billing revenues by a healthy margin. Business services, including order processing, purchase order administration, contracts administration, and rebates programs saw momentum during the fiscal and have grown to account for 50% of the total headcount in the organization.
Employee strength grew by 103% to 3,027 for the year; and in Chennai, where most of the
business
services are concentrated, it grew 166% from 300
to 800 this year. Future expansions will also largely happen in Chennai with a planned growth to 2,500 by 2006. Bangalore will
continue to handle the financial back-office operations with only incremental growth happening, based on workload increase. The customer response center in
Bangalore remains the voice-based help desk within the organization with some 100 people.
