The Bangalore captive center of America Online Member Services, the largest of its nine customer service hubs globally, was on a ramp-up spree, crossing the 1,000-employee mark in the first half of calendar 2003. Handling over 15 million calls in 2003-04, the 110,000-sq foot facility in Bangalore now caters to about 35 million AOL subscribers globally. AOL also allocated some work on its spam blocker, AOL Optimise 9.0, and a few parental control functions to its Bangalore member services operations. Fiscal 2004 also saw AOL's widening focus on product development, sales and quality assurance content development gathering steam in India.
